Why should you use beard oil?

Keep your beard well groomed and healthy with a nourishing beard oil! It contains essential oils that help keep your beard moisturized while nourishing the skin under the beard to reduce itching and irritation. A beard oil softens the beard and can promote increased beard growth. When massaged into the skin, it increases the flow of blood and oxygen to the face, while its moisturizing properties leave your skin feeling fresh and healthy. This combination of properties gives you the best possible conditions to adorn your face with a big and handsome beard! However, the main factors that come into play when it comes to growing a great beard are genetics and patience. Generally speaking, you should wait for 2-4 months before you can make a confident judgment about whether or not your beard has potential.

One problem that can arise if you do not use beard oil is that the body does not have time to moisturize both skin and beard at the same time. This is especially true for those of us who live in dry and cold climates, and particularly during the winter months. By acting as a complement to the skin's natural moisturizing process, the oil helps to minimize itching and skin irritation - problems that have led many a man to shave off his future beard within the first month.

But how do you apply beard oil? And when should you do it?

These are some of the questions that every beard-wearer out there has probably asked themselves at some point during their beard-growing journey. Below we go through everything you need to consider when it comes to moisturizing your beard!

1. How long should the beard be?

First of all, it's worth discussing when in the growing process you should start oiling your beard. For those growing a beard for the first time, it's common to think that oiling is something that is only needed when the beard is already long, or that it's only something that some people use. However, the fact is that you can and should apply it quite early. You can start from day one if you wish, but we recommend letting your beard grow for around 1-2 weeks to avoid your skin becoming too oily.

2. How much beard oil should you use?

It depends. The risk of using too much oil is that the beard can look oily or sticky, and if you use too little, you risk irritating your skin. Generally speaking, a small amount is enough: 2-5 drops are usually enough for most people. Although the bottles of oil may seem small at first, you will find that they last a very long time.

If you are unsure, it is better to start with a small amount and then add more. You can always add more oil, but it is more difficult to get rid of them.

3. When in my morning routine should I apply the product?

If you shower in the morning, you should of course wait until after your shower to apply the oil. Pat your beard dry with a towel until it's almost completely dry, then massage the oil in as instructed below. You don't want to apply the beard oil when the beard is too wet.

4. How often should I moisturize my beard?

You should moisturize your beard, and more importantly, your scalp, 1-2 times a day. Definitely once in the morning before leaving for work or school, and possibly once more in the afternoon if you have itching problems or feel that your beard has lost its shine during the day.

5. How to apply the oil?

Take 2-5 drops (most of our products have a small pump built into the cap, making it easy to take the right amount). Rub the oil between your hands so you can spread it evenly throughout your beard. Start from the root and make sure the oil is applied to both skin and beard. Comb through the hair, first with your hands, and then with a comb or brush to ensure that the beard lays down the way you want it to and that the oil is fully spread.

Combine beard oil with other beard care products for better results!

Combine beard oil with beard balm for even better results! If you are interested in using beard conditioner , we recommend first washing your hair with a beard shampoo for optimal results. This process should not be done more often than every other day to avoid unnecessary wear and tear on your beard. The reason why we recommend using beard specific products and not e.g. regular hair shampoo is that you have different types of follicles (hair follicles) in your face and hair. The skin and hair follicles on the face are usually quite sensitive and should be cleaned with customized products.
