The Unholy is a 2021 supernatural horror film based on the 1983 novel Shrine by James Herbert.
Alice, a young hearing-impaired girl, becomes able to hear, speak and heal the sick after allegedly visiting the Virgin Mary. As the message spreads and people from near and far flock to the city to witness her miracles, a journalist (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) visits the small town of New England to investigate the rumors. When frightening events begin to happen everywhere, he begins to question whether these phenomena are the work of the Virgin Mary or something more sinister.
