Tips for using hearing aid batteries

Store batteries correctly and they will last longer! It may seem natural to put them in the fridge, or perhaps stow them away in a damp bathroom cabinet, but in fact all hearing aid batteries should be stored at room temperature. Also, be careful about storing them in pockets, bags and the like - this can cause damage to your battery if it comes into contact with other metal objects.

The most common battery type is zinc-air batteries. To prolong the life of these, we recommend waiting a few minutes after removing the sticker before inserting the battery into the hearing aid. The reason for this is that the voltage will gradually increase after the battery comes into contact with the air, this is of course not dangerous, on the contrary, the batteries feel good to be activated for a short period before you start using them. However, the sticker should not be removed until just before using the battery.

Turn off your hearing aid or open the battery door when you do not need to use it. If you don't plan to use your hearing aid for a long time, you can also remove the battery.

In the summer, when it can get hot, many people choose to dry their hearing aids with a drying bag or drying jar. This is a good idea as it protects the sensitive electronics inside the hearing aid, but while it is drying, you should remove the batteries.

If you notice that your hearing aid has deteriorated, it may be because the batteries do not have long to live. Time to buy new ones!
