Circulation pumps
The pool pump - one of the most important parts of the pool
A pool pump ensures that the water in the pool is periodically circulated and purified via the pool pump filter, which is why it is sometimes called a circulation pump. There are also pumps that heat the water.
All pools (except for the smallest children's pools where the water is drained between each use) must have a pool pump to keep the water clean and swim-friendly.
Things to consider about the capacity of the pool pump
Choosing a pool pump is relatively easy, as its capacity is mainly related to the size of the pool whose water it is intended to circulate. The first step is to find out how big your pool is - then you can filter out the pumps that fit that size on the website. You can measure this in a few different ways, but we mainly work by simply printing out the number of liters that the pool pumps can handle. You can also measure this in cubic meters or hp.
Remember not to skimp on the pool pump as it will not be able to clean all the water in the pool if it is built for a pool with a smaller amount of water. As a general rule, the pool pump should circulate and pump around all the water in the pool at least 4-5 times a day.
Pool pump with sand filter or without?
Recently, sand filter pumps have become very popular, and for good reason. A sand filter pump requires less cleaning and maintenance compared to filter pumps and is more cost-effective. More recently, there has been another solution that is even better: filter balls. Filter balls have a superior filtration effect compared to normal filter sand or cartridge filters. They are also more environmentally friendly than sand. The material of the balls forms an effective surface that adapts to the shape of the filter. They collect floating particles in the water down to 10 microns (compared to filter sand which traps floating particles down to 40-50 microns). Unlike cartridge filters, it is also easy to see when filter balls need cleaning.
Where should the pool pump be placed?
The circulation pump should be placed close to the pool, no more than a few meters away, and preferably at the level of the pool drain and inlet nozzle to avoid overloading it (which is a risk if the water has to be constantly pumped horizontally).
