The story of L'OCCITANE began in the picturesque markets of Provence, a region known for its fragrant landscapes and abundant vegetation. In 1976, at just 23 years old, Olivier Baussan began his journey towards creating an international beauty brand. With simple equipment - a still, a small truck and a deep knowledge of the region's plants - Baussan began distilling rosemary essential oil. His first customers were the local inhabitants, and it was at the village markets that he sold his natural oils.
Soon Olivier expanded his range and started creating soaps and creams, always inspired by the natural beauty resources that Provence offered. He drew his inspiration from the aromatic herbs, the rich soil and the traditional practices that have been part of the region's culture for centuries. His goal was to bring this natural beauty to the world, allowing people everywhere to enjoy the nurturing properties of L'OCCITANE products.
