At optimal contact, the magnet can lift objects up to 600kg. The indicated lifting force is measured on a perfectly flat surface of pure steel. When magnet fishing you will find things that have been in the water for many years, most likely they have a lot of rust on them. Rust and other deposits significantly reduce the magnet's lifting power.
Remember to wash the magnet immediately after use if it has been in salt water to maintain its durability. Otherwise it will rust in the long run.
The lifting eye should be checked before each throw to make sure it has not come loose. There is a risk of these coming loose from vibrations/impacts from rocks etc. on the bottom.
