Aqara Door and Window Sensor P2. A door and window sensor that connects to a home automation system. The sensor is Matter-compatible straight out of the box, offering compatibility between different manufacturers' products. The Door and Window Sensor P2 includes not only Bluetooth but also support for Thread technology, which was developed specifically for smart home applications to improve connectivity between accessories.
As its name suggests, the Door and Window Sensor can be installed on a door or window and you will always be notified if the door or window status changes. However, there can be many more applications. Install the sensor on the door of your fridge or freezer and you will know if the door is closed or when it is opened. Install a sensor on the door of a safe in your home and you will always be notified when it is opened. Or put a sensor on the door of a medicine cabinet and you'll know if the cabinet door opens. It is also possible to automate smart lighting with P2.
You can also make rules and automations between other compatible devices in your home. Make an automation that, when a window opens, turns off the heating in the smart thermostat. It is also possible to have compatible security cameras record sensor status information as it changes.
Aqara The Door and Window Sensor P2 requires a compatible Matter edge router*, such as an Apple HomePod Mini smart speaker, to work. The P2 is not compatible with previous AqaraZigbee-enabled home automation controllers/hubs. In addition, a mobile device and an app are required for operation and management.
